Remember those early years; first worrying that you would be carded, then at thirty-something – hoping you would be. Well, I’ve reached that tender age when in some places I qualify for those senior movies, menus and discounts. The first few times I asked for a seniors’ meal, I expected the same vigilant scrutiny of my driver’s license. Alas, I found that the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) doesn’t monitor these things quite as carefully as underage drinking or smoking.
Truthfully, I was hoping for more of a response. ” No way, you couldn’t be that old – not you, You look so young!” Sadly, not so. I’ve decided that the reason I don’t get asked about my age more often is that the wait person or sales clerk is just past puberty and to them anyone over forty is past prime.
